Floto was established in 2003 after Joe Floto brought back a leather travel bag from Italy and noticed that everywhere he went with it, people asked, "Where did you get that bag?" This sparked the beginning of the Floto brand.

At Floto, we specialize in Italian hand-stained leather which is metal-free, sustainable, and not harmful to people. This centuries-old Tuscan tanning tradition produces colorful leather that is easy to craft and gets better with age. Creating new styles out of supple, full-grain leather brings us to the workshop every day with a smile.

Floto offers several collections, each with its own unique characteristics. The Classic Collection features semi-gloss finish full-grain calfskin leather that softens, patinas, and can withstand wear and tear. The Roma Collection is made with oil-finished full-grain calfskin leather that has been used to make travel bags in Italy for centuries. The Floto Collection is crafted from semi-gloss finish full-grain calfskin leather that is supple, easy to polish, and softens over time with a perfect patina.

The Parma Collection is made with full-grain leather that has been lightly tanned with chestnut extracts for a natural look that darkens over time. The Super Tuscan is our leather-lined travel bag made with full-grain, hand-stained leather inside and out. We also offer a collection of classic-style wallets in the same leather as our travel bags.

All Floto leather bags are handcrafted in Italy by skilled artisans practicing techniques that have been passed down for generations. On average, a Floto leather bag will pass through 28 different workstations at our factory in Florence, Italy, including cutting, gluing, sanding, painting, stitching, and riveting. This meticulous process ensures the production of superior, high-quality leather goods.

The Lugano Weekender, one of our newest offerings, is now available with a built-in shoe compartment. Handcrafted in Italy with full-grain, vegetable-tanned calfskin leather and brass hardware, the Lugano features a durable 8 oz. cotton duck canvas lining, an inside zip pocket, an outside pocket, and a detachable comfort strap. The leather used in the Lugano was hand-tanned in Tuscany to soften, patina, and develop a silky touch, using only vegetable extracts and natural oils.

Floto is committed to sustainable and ethical practices. The tanning process used for our leather is metal-free and respectful of the environment, as the raw leather skins are a byproduct of the food industry, and our tanning waste is reused in other supply chains.

As an American brand, Floto stands by all of its products, designed and packaged in the United States, but artisan-made in Italy.
