Floto was established in 2003 after Joe Floto brought back a leather travel bag from Italy and noticed that everywhere he went with it people asked - "where did you get that bag"? Creating new styles out of supple full grain leather brings us to the workshop every day with a smile. We specialize in Italian hand stained leather which is metal free, sustainable, and not harmful to people. This centuries old Tuscan tanning tradition produces colorful leather that is easy to craft and gets better with age.

Floto leather bags are handcrafted in Italy. Our mission is to refine old world craft methods to make superior, high quality leather goods. On average a Floto leather bag will pass through 28 different work benches at our factory in Florence, Italy : cutting, skiving, gluing, sanding, painting, internal assembly, hand stitching, riveting, etc. - enough to make your head spin. Along the way, we take pride in our work. We work hard but we also find time to laugh and appreciate life. We arrive at work early, but we take a long lunch and nap. We work into the evening and then drink wine and eat pasta for dinner. This is what it takes to produce a Floto bag; and this is the typical day at our factory.

The Roma Travel Bag comes in Saddle Brown leather and is finished with high quality YKK brass zipper and hardware. The calfskin leather for this bag was vegetable tanned in Tuscany to create rich color tones while the matte (oil) finish gives it an old school look and scratches easily recover by rubbing the leather. Over time this leather bag will soften and develop a beautiful patina. Our 8 oz cotton duck canvas lining is made in South Carolina and very durable. The combination of Italian vegetable tanned leather, Italian craftsmanship, and U.S. made canvas lining make our leather travel bags high quality, rugged, and lightweight. This size of the travel bag is expandable - when the hooks are latched the body measures 12" x 11" x 21" - unclipped it expands 3" higher for larger loads. Two fast access zip pockets are big enough for any size smartphone (8" x 8"). The sleeve pocket comes in handy on the go (6" x 9"). Made in Italy.

At Floto we prefer to work with genuine hand stained vegetable tanned leather. The supple skin has a sweet scent, is easy to cut and sand, strong and flexible, and does not contain any toxic or harmful substances. The plaid lining of this travel bag matches the durability and heritage of our hand stained leather.
