Floto was established in 2003 after Joe Floto brought back a leather travel bag from Italy and noticed that everywhere he went with it people asked - "where did you get that bag"? We specialize in Italian hand stained leather which is metal free, sustainable, and not harmful to people. This centuries old Tuscan tanning tradition produces colorful leather that is easy to craft and gets better with age. Creating new styles out of supple full grain leather brings us to the workshop everyday with a smile.

Floto Travel Bags always arrive in style. From saddle bags to hobos - we have over 50 styles to choose from. We also offer a selection of mini clutches and handbags. Our women's backpacks are both stylish and functional, and we make a fine selection of women's briefcases and work bags. To complete the look, we craft women's wallets in the same leather as our handbags.

On average, a Floto leather bag will pass through 28 different work benches at our factory in Florence, Italy: cutting, skiving, gluing, sanding, painting, internal assembly, hand stitching, riveting, etc. Along the way, we take pride in our work. We work hard but we also find time to laugh and appreciate life. We arrive at work early, but we take a long lunch and nap. We work into the evening and then drink wine and eat pasta for dinner. This is the typical day at our factory, where Floto leather bags are handcrafted.

The Floto Boston Bag is made with full grain calfskin leather that was vegetable tanned in Tuscany to create rich color tones. The semi gloss finish helps prevent stains. The 8 oz cotton duck canvas lining is made in South Carolina and very durable. The combination of Italian vegetable tanned leather, Italian craftsmanship, and U.S. made canvas lining make Floto leather handbags high quality and lightweight.

The Boston Bag measures 8" h x 12" l x 6 " w with a 6" drop, and features a smartphone pocket, inside zip pocket, and a detachable shoulder strap (42-46"). The bottom has 4 metal feet for protection. The interior is lined with durable 8oz cotton duck canvas and has a zip pocket and two multi-function pockets for storage.

All Floto leather bags are handcrafted in Florence, Italy by skilled artisans practicing techniques handed down for generations. The slow process of tanning Floto leather uses natural vegetable tannins with total respect for nature. Our raw leather skins are a byproduct of the food industry and our tanning waste is reused in other supply chains. Floto tanning is metal free, sustainable, and not harmful to people.

Floto is an American brand, and every Floto leather bag is artisan made in Italy, but designed and packaged in the United States. As a small family owned company, we stand by all of our products to ensure you can enjoy them as much as we do.
